· WHERE DO YOU RIDE AND WHAT ARE THE TRAILS LIKE?
We are nestled in a beautiful and diverse natural environment! A high desert landscape with Pinion pines, Manzanitas, Juniper trees, Joshua trees, Sage, Shrub Oak, and other foliage creates a unique and picturesque setting. The combination of flat and hilly trails offers a range of options for outdoor activities and exploration.
Pinion Pines are known for their small, edible pine nuts and provide shade and habitat for wildlife. Manzanitas are evergreen shrubs or small trees with smooth, reddish bark and beautiful pink or white flowers. Juniper trees are often found in dry, rocky areas and are known for their distinctive bluish-green foliage and aromatic berries.
The iconic Joshua trees, with their tall, branching limbs and spiky leaves, are characteristic of the Mojave Desert. Sage is a common plant in arid regions, known for its aromatic leaves and medicinal properties. Shrub oak, on the other hand, is a sturdy, low-growing plant that adds to the diversity of the landscape.
With such a variety of plant life and trails offers opportunities for hiking, nature walks, photography, bird watching, and experiencing the unique desert ecosystem. Whether you prefer flat trails for leisurely walks or more challenging hill trails for a workout, there seems to be something for everyone to enjoy in your high desert environment.

· WHAT’S THE WEATHER LIKE?
The ranch experiences some snow in the winter despite being at an elevation of 3200 feet. The change in seasons and occasional snowfall can add even more variety to your already diverse landscape. A nice breeze is refreshing and helps mitigate the temperatures during the summer months.
With temperatures ranging from 70 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer, it's important to stay hydrated and take appropriate measures to protect yourself from the heat. We enjoy riding horses throughout the year, taking advantage of the different seasons and weather conditions. However, if it become to hot, cold, or wet we will not ride for the safety of the horses.
Riding in the winter with the snow-covered scenery is a beautiful experience, while riding in other seasons allows you to witness the vibrant colors and foliage of the high desert. Exploring the trails on horseback offers a unique perspective and allows you to fully immerse yourself in the natural surroundings.
Remember to dress appropriately for the varying weather conditions and take necessary precautions while enjoying your rides throughout the year. The combination of stunning landscapes, diverse plant life, and the ability to ride all year makes your ranch an ideal place for nature enthusiasts and horse riders alike.

· WHAT IS THE LARGEST GROUP YOU TAKE OUT AT ONE TIME?
Our ranch follows a policy of accommodating a maximum of 10 riders per outing, accompanied by at least two experienced guides. In the event that the group size exceeds this limit, we divide it into two smaller groups. This ensures a safe and personalized experience for each rider and allows our guides to provide the necessary attention and support.
During the outing, riders have the option to bring a picnic lunch. To optimize the time spent at the ranch, we employ a rotation system. Half of the group indulges in exploring the ranch and enjoying a leisurely picnic while the other half embarks on a horseback ride. Upon the return of the first group, we switch the riders, allowing everyone to have an equal opportunity to explore the trails and savor the ranch's serene ambiance.
This arrangement ensures that all participants can immerse themselves in the unique experiences our ranch has to offer. Whether it's taking in the scenic beauty, enjoying a shared meal amidst nature, or discovering the landscape on horseback, we strive to create memorable moments for each guest while maintaining a manageable group size and prioritizing safety and enjoyment.

· CAN WE DO AN ALL DAY RIDE?
Based on our extensive experience, we have found that the majority of individuals are unable to handle rides lasting longer than two hours. Our rides are not limited to a slow-paced walk, as we engage in various activities and maneuvers, which can be physically demanding. After riding for an hour or two, we have observed that most riders tend to become quite fatigued.
However, we do occasionally organize longer rides exceeding two hours, but only for individuals who have previously ridden with us. This is because these riders are familiar with the demands and expectations of such rides, having developed the necessary stamina and comfort level through prior experience with our horses and trails.
By setting realistic time limits for rides and considering the physical limitations of riders, we aim to ensure their safety, enjoyment, and overall satisfaction. Our experience has shown that shorter rides are more manageable for most participants, allowing them to fully appreciate the experience without feeling excessively tired or strained.

· CAN I RIDE ON THE SAME HORSE AS MY CHILD?
Unfortunately, due to insurance restrictions, we do not permit double riding. However, if a child is too young for trail riding, we offer an alternative option of a pony ride at the ranch. These pony rides are led by a ranch hand, last for approximately 20 minutes, and are limited to the ranch premises for safety reasons.
For children who are old enough to participate in trail rides, there is no cause for concern. We have a selection of well-mannered and gentle horses specifically suited for kids. Their temperament and training ensure that children can enjoy the trail riding experience without encountering any difficulties.
Our priority is to prioritize the safety and well-being of all our riders, including children, while providing enjoyable and age-appropriate activities. By adhering to the insurance regulations and offering suitable options, we strive to create a positive and secure environment for everyone at the ranch.

If your two 11-year-olds want to go horseback riding, but you yourself do not wish to ride, it's not necessary for you to accompany them on the ride. Depending on the specific policies and guidelines of the ranch, they may require a legal guardian or responsible adult to be present, even if they are not riding. It's important to check with the ranch regarding their rules and requirements.
In some cases, the ranch may allow minors to participate in horseback riding activities under the supervision of their trained staff and guides. They may have experienced personnel who will ensure the safety and well-being of the riders throughout the ride. However, it's essential to communicate with the ranch beforehand to discuss their specific protocols and make arrangements for the supervision of your children.

· WHAT IS THE YOUNGEST THAT CAN GO OUT ON TRAIL?
The ranch policy suggests that seven years of age is generally seen as an appropriate starting age for children to go out on horseback riding trails. This consideration takes into account their ability to pay attention and follow instructions. By this age, children typically possess enough physical stamina and coordination to handle moderate rides. They also tend to have the attention span and maturity necessary to stay focused on the trail and comprehend basic safety guidelines.
Nevertheless, it is worth noting that this age range serves as a general guideline and may vary depending on the child's individual development, physical capabilities, and the specific characteristics of the trail. Some children might be prepared to begin horseback riding at a younger age, while others may require more time to acquire the necessary skills and maturity.
Parents or guardians should evaluate their child's readiness by considering factors like their physical fitness, attention span, ability to follow instructions, and prior experience with outdoor activities. It is essential to select trails that are appropriate for their age and skill level to ensure safety and provide an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
